AbstractNonlocal investigations are presented for exciton-photon coupling in three-dimensional quantum-dot photonic crystals in diamond lattice. A complete photonic band gap can exist in the diamond structure. Moreover, the effects of radius of quantum dot and lattice constant on the photonic band structure are studied. It is found that the width of the band gap can be broaden by increasing filling ratio. Furthermore, a special kind of defect, quantum dots with different radius in a face-center cubic lattice, is studied, and a profound effect on the band structure is found.
