Printing

There are two printers available,

• color
  Color printer HP (to be filled in). Supports Duplex printing.

• bw
  Multipurpose black laser printer HP (to be filled in). Duplex printouts can be obtained by sending to bwduplex (which is default). The printer is also a copying machine, and you can use it as a scanner and send the scan to you e-mail.

You can change your default printer by executing line (tcsh)

setenv PRINTER <printer name>

and/or adding this line to your ~/.login file.

Scanner usage

Background

We have Epson Perfection 1200U USB scanner that works with Linux.

Usage instructions

1. The scanner is located next to Brano's computer (room number here).
2. position the test to scan and run xsane.
3. Don't forget to switch the scanner off after finished scanning to save the scanner lamp.
4. You can postprocess scanned pictures with gimp under Linux.

History

We used to have a problem with this scanner when using early 2.4.0-testx kernels. The problem was in the USB communication layer. USB communication to the scanner worked perfectly since 2.4.2 kernel release.
